2010 rewind

Hard to believe that we are in January and the baby is here - so I thought I would recap 2010 before 2011 is over. :)

January 2010
- we sold out townhome and got to packing. We were so happy that after being on the market for 2 years, we were going to move.

Febuary 2010
- Valentines Day, the movers came and moved us uptown. We decided to rent a cute 2 bed/2 bath duplex in my old neighborhood from 10 years before. I loved everything about this day. It was a new beginning.

March 2010
- We decided to start trying for a baby.

April 2010 - Surprise, we got pregnant. :) We decided to not find out what we were having. We told the family and six weeks into the pregnancy, I got really sick.

May 2010 - Our 2 year anniversary came and went. I had 2 visits to the ER from extreme vomiting thanks to the bean. I remember spending most of the weekends in bed just sleeping.

June 2010
- Our late trip to Asheville, NC to celebrate our anniversary. We went out to dinner, saw a concert and just enjoyed spending time together without any vomiting nonsense.

July 2010 - We went to Canada (finally). What an awesome trip. I loved it up there and so excited to think about going back and taking the bean. She is going to love it up there! I ate my way through the countryside - fish, cotton candy, ice cream and we also traveled by car to see almost all of the hubs family. I will also treasure that trip.

August and September 2010
- The hubs got a promotion and traveled for work to PR.

October 2010
- Our baby shower. It was so nice to spend time with all our friends and family.

November 2010
- We started finally working on the nursery and the hubs traveled to Aruba. We also had our first Thanksgiving we hosted for the in-laws and also took a babymoon as our last weekend away as just the two of us.

December 2010
- Even though my OB said the bean would be early, the bean came four days past her due date. We spent the holidays in a blur, but got to see family which was the best part of the season.

All in all, 2010 was a really great year for us. I know I am looking forward to 2011 and all that it brings for our little family. Here's to the new year. :)

The Bean's Birth Story

So we had a little girl - which I'm still in shock over since I really thought all the kicking came from a little boy in my belly. Here's the story of Stella's birth.

On Sunday 12/12/2010 before I went to bed, I asked the hubs to please email his boss that he would going with me to my last appointment with the OB on Monday so we could chat about induction. At around 3:50am, I felt like I really needed to pee and just made it to the bathroom when my water broke. My first thought was - - Oh crap! It's really happening. I finished up and walked back into the bedroom to let the hubs it was go time. The hubs response was - well, about time. :) We both took our time - I showered, we ate some toast and then out the door we went to the hospital. They checked me in at 5:30am.

Around 9:30am they started me on meds to get my contractions to be a little stronger. Most of the day we just sat around and watched TV. I was starving just waiting for something to happen. Around 5pm they started letting me know that even with all the meds, the contractions were not consistent and if they didn't pick up that we would have to chat about options. Both the hubs and I were both scared that a C-Section was around the corner. They really punched up the meds and around 6pm the contractions were so bad, I asked for an epidural. Once they gave me the epi, I finally started relaxing and things really started moving along.

I started napping on and off and around 9pm the nurse came in to say they were going to set up the room. I was having contractions without really feeling them, but I do remember feeling a pressure that something was happening. Around 9:30ish pm they started coaching me through pushing. Next thing I know it's 10:33pm and they are announcing that the baby is here. Both the hubs and I yelled out - it's a girl at the same time. I was so in shock but so happy. They put Stella on my chest and I just sobbed. She weighed 7.7lbs and was 20.5 inches long.

They got us into our room at 3:30am and the following 2 days plus this past week once we got home on Wednesday have been a blur. Lack of sleep and hormones are getting to me more than I could think possible - but Stella is totally worth it. Oh -and Stella was named after the hubs grandmother who is no longer with us. Rose was just another name we both loved and I love calling her our little hippie.

Stella will be turning one month this upcoming week. I've been calling her hungry, hungry hippo and guppy since she is such a great little eater. Recently she has been sleep for six hours in a row - love her for it. I function so much better on sleep. So now that she's here - the fun begins - raising a little girl is going to be so much fun and I already love just being a mom.
