This morning on the way to work (running late as usual), I saw a plate on the back of a car that read, Very Soon. So I began to wonder if it was a sign to just remember that very soon, things would change. And once that thought popped into my head, another thought popped in - what could I change to make very soon, be right now? We all get into a place in our lives where we wonder if things will ever be the way we want them to be. It reminds me of another saying that God laughs at our plans. We can try and put together our future goals, but we need to remember the little things that matter right now.
When asked what mattered more - a new car/house/you name it or my marriage, I answered, my marriage mattered the most. If our home or car or what have you blew up tomorrow, my relationship with others matters more. Yes, it would totally suck to live in a tent and have our dogs running the streets as we beg for food/small donations, but we would make it work to get to a better place. (That was worse case scenario, which hopefully won't ever happen).
I've just noticed that when we ask for a blessing, that some of us take it for granted once it comes true. We do we complain about what we are given? And why do we think that bigger and better should come without struggle? We are not handed things because we ask for them. We have to work at them and for more, we have to remember that more work can be required. Nothing comes easy and if it does, we would never appreciate it. Sounds so simple doesn't it? Well, I am trying to remember to be happy for those around me and remember that their road may not be mine, but I have my own path I need to own.
Hopefully all my plans will come true, but if they don't, I hope that what I do get is enough and I'll appreciate it whole heartily.
